The government re-implements the market price system for pharmaceutical products in February 2014, despite of the opposition in Congress.

According to sources on December 13, Moon Hyung Pyo, Minister of Health and Welfare will announce its plan this week. It is known that the government thinks that the market price system still has good points, so it decided to resume it.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare also decided not to accept the pharmaceutical industry’s suggestion as it is not reasonable or justifiable. It doesn’t have to revise the National Health Insurance Act at this moment.

Congress seems to react immediately because it is clear that the government’s healthcare spending won’t be reduced without the change of the National Health Insurance Act.
