Roche Korea voluntarily withdrew Valium 2mg

Roche Korea voluntarily withdrew Valium 2mg although its sales are steady in the market.

Multinational pharmaceutical companies usually withdraw their brand-name drugs when their sales keep going down. Valium doesn’t belong to those cases. Valium sales were 2.5 billion won last year.

Roche Korea’s decision seems to be affected by the headquarters. Valium 2mg and 5mg got approved in South Korea, but only Valium 5mg is currently distributed in the global market. So Roche Korea had to decide to market 2mg only.

The withdrawal of Valium 2mg was expected as Roche Korea didn’t take any order in summer, waiting till Valium 2mg ran out of stock. The marketing approval for 2mg expired in November.
