17-day vacation for GSK Korea’s employees

Ten out of twenty-one Korean subsidiaries of multinational pharmaceutical companies will officially close out their offices for more than ten days in December.

GlaxoSmithKline Korea and Abbvie Korea plan to close its offices for 17 days from December 19, 2014 to January 4, 2015.

AstraZeneca Korea, Mundipharma Korea, and Gilead Korea will be closed from December 22, 2014 to January 4, 2015 while Sanofi-Aventis Korea, its subsidiaries, Pfizer Korea, Novartis Korea, and Otsuka Korea will be closed from December 24, 2014 to January 4, 2015. Takeda Korea will be closed from December 23,2014 to January 1, 2015.

Many multinational companies encourage their employees to use their vacation days before the end of 2014. An official of a multinational drugmaker said, “Some will use their vacation days before and after the year end closeout. They can take over twenty days off if they want.”

Most of Korean pharmaceutical companies are open by the end of the year.
